Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who aspires to reach the top of the corporate ladder. She’s climbing fast when given the promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father’s death. She inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies, and just when she thinks her luck couldn’t get any worse, she has a car accident in the mountains and awakens in the small, remote community of Black River.

Soon, she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv---wolves descended from 13th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack.

Now, she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.

Now was the perfect time to escape. They were so busy arguing and glaring that they were oblivious to the fact that their young daughter could hear every word. I started to cry when they mentioned my name. My father blamed my mother for being too strict with me, and she blamed him for being too lenient and allowing me to make a mess of the house.  I didn't think I was messy.
It stood a few yards away and stared at me. Then, it cocked its head and whimpered. I was more intrigued than afraid, and the feeling was mutual. I expected the puppy's owner to be within a close distance, but I didn't see or hear anyone else.
The puppy and I had established a bond of trust, so I didn't expect him to lead me to danger. Unfortunately, in my naivety, that's exactly what he did.

This book had some inconsistencies, however, I really enjoyed it overall. The inconsistencies were very minor and I was able to get over them rather quickly. This was my very first adult paranormal and I must say, it definitely won't be my last. I have a few adult paranormals I've been wanting to check out and after reading this one, I'm not afraid to lose some of the fun you get from young adult. It's a different kind of fun. Instead of it being young adult and them being in high school and it's innocent to a point. Adult gets to be in college or even further than that and actually having an adult life; which is where I currently am in my own life so it was fun reading about this time in my life, since I just started a full time job. Which brings me to one of the inconsistencies. Paige and her job. She never let her magazine company know when she was going to be back and magically when she does get back, she still has her job. That would not fly with my job at all. I think it would have been nice to at least hear that she took a leave of absence or had vacation days or something. Like I said, minor.

I loved the romance between Riley and Paige! It was super sweet. They met when they were younger during some of the years that Paige would vacation with her family and then they reconnected when they were older and couldn't deny the attraction towards one another. The only thing I would want from their relationship is, MORE. wanted more of their relationship.

The beginning of the book really drew me into the story. It starts off when Paige was younger and she ran away. I loved the descriptions of how Paige was feeling and the descriptions of the wolf and the woods and the whole mystery behind the Varulv and the Scandinavian Norse Gods. The writing is done rather well.

The ending was a definite twist and only left me wanting more. If there is another in this series, I definitely want to be reading it! I want more of this couple!! Other than the minor inconsistencies, I really liked this book! I cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel if she creates one! I'm also going to delve into the rest of her books and check them out!
