Blog Re-Designs: Millie D's Words and my own!

Hello lovelies and welcome to my re-designed blog! :) I have two designs to share with you today - one, as you surely have noticed, is my own!

But first let's take a look at the design I did for the lovely Kristen from Millie D's Words! (<- click to visit Millie's Blog and look around!)

When Kristen contacted me about the blog re-design she didn't really have a clear vision of what she wanted her blog to look like. She wanted something blue and white, not too flashy and not too cutesy. And she asked me to incorporate her WORDS into the theme of the blog. The idea for the vector was a girl lying down and writing in a journal of some sort. And there was to be a cat somewhere there, too! :)

So.. Take a look at how this design turned out!

Millie D's Words BEFORE:

Millie D's Words AFTER:

All graphics were custom designed by me. And guys, I must say, I rally loved working on this project! It was different from the cutesy, colorful stuff I did before, but equally fun to design! I tried to incorporate the WORDS into the theme as much as possible, so the background of the page is styled to look like a page from a journal. Sidebar, too! The font is a handwritten one (and one of my favorites). Even th slider has a custom touch :) I think it looks really nice (not to brag or anything!).

What do you guys think?!

Here's a couple other graphics I made for Kristen:

Make sure to visit her blog and let her know if you like the new design! :)

Now, my blog design is 100% different from what I had on here before. My theme was blue, bright and popping. And I loved it, I really did, but it was designed with Artisteer and it had some issues (like the archive list wouldn't properly work or I had double the "share on social media" buttons at the bottom of each post). Plus, I figured it's time for a more mature look. I am a little bit worried that my blog doesn't look as YA as it used to, but at the same time I'm excited for it to finally look more adult! (I review both after all).

I won't be posting screenshots of my graphics here - no point, as you can see the design all around - but I'll share with you a few extra graphics I made for myself:

I also have a big announcement to make regarding the blog, but thats later on this week, so stay tuned!

Two more lovely designs. :) I love how versatile the range of stuff you've done is--from colors, to themes, to ideas, etc. I think that's really important for a designer. It can be easy to get into a habit of using certain things, of creating a trend where people immediately know something is 'yours', but not necessarily in a way you want them to.

Personally *I* prefer bubbly, energetic stuff, but having diversity in what you are capable of, and having your blog reflect *you* is awesome.
