Where to get:
Even after years of trauma therapy, Peyton still believes she’s broken. She has little desire to date or show off her natural beauty, content simply to hang out with her best friends and run her pie shop in New Orleans. But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up. While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them. With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own -- a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors she’s endured. But if they can find a way to trust each other, and themselves, they just might be able to heal, to save each other, to live perfectly broken together.
"I need your kind of headboard." Quinn called out. "If Bret bangs my head one more time against his wooden one, I may suffer serious brain damage. I can see the obituary now. 'Banged to death. Your parents will be so proud."
She felt special, wanted, secure; he seemed to have no intention of making her the least bit uncomfortable. In fact, he shielded her from any potential danger, positioning himself between her and the occasional drunk or crazy stumbling near them.
But life wasn't lived on paper; it was lived on dreams, hopes, fears. And it often didn't make sense--just like the beautiful twisted lines on her hands.
This is a new adult book about pie shop owner, Peyton Mayfield who is broken in all senses of the word. She hides herself from others and pretends to be okay on the outside while harboring a troubling secret that no one really knows. Then there is sexy commitment phobe Reed Langston. He falls hard for Peyton but doesn't really get her at all. For him it has been girl after girl and no one says no but somehow this one is different. Peyton is different and he is going to find out why or die trying?
We all know love is never perfect, but two characters from different pasts come together in this romance and try to make it work. Both hiding their own secrets, can they find each other before it is too late?
I found this story so sweet, and full of great chemistry. Even the best friends of Reed and Peyton were a couple and they also brought a lot to the story.
"Well, I've had variety. It left me hungry, unsatisfied, even a bit sick sometimes. But one bit, one nibble of the real deal of you leaves me happy, content, wanting more of you, and only you."
This book has so many great quotes, I just had to share another one here. If you like romance and great character charisma, pick up a copy of this. You'll adore it!
