Character Interview + Giveaway with Ezra & Jack from King Hall by Scarlett Dawn

In August, I raved on my other blogs (Just a Booklover & YA Bound) about this one book that was the absolute PERFECT New Adult Paranormal. So when we started planning this October event, I immediately wanted to find SOME way to tell y'all about the awesome that is King Hall by Scarlett Dawn. Lucky for me, Scarlett is an incredibly awesome person and let me borrow my current obsession crush, Ezra, and the ever-wonderful Jack for a character interview! I love this interview, you guys. So much. Hehehehehe

Hellllooooo, you two. Thank you for stopping by Bookish!

Jack brushes hair out of eyes. “‘Sup.”
Ezra grunts. Waits.

Okay. So. This is going to be interesting.
Jack stares.
Ezra lifts a brow.

I think we should start off with something to help us get to know you each a little better. Can you describe yourselves in five words or less, please?
Jack’s lips switch. “I like sex.”
“Ditto.” Ezra smirks.
Jack holds his fist out. “Dude, combined we did that in less than five.”
Ezra lifts his hand, fist bumps. “It’s sex, man. Easy.”
“And hot.”
A grunt. “That too.”

All right, now Ezra, describe JACK in five words or less. Jack, do the same for Ezra. Please?
Ezra lips tremble. “He’s good at-“
Abruptly, Jack clears his throat.
A slow grin etches Ezra’s supple lips. “He’s epic at sex.”
An absent head tilt at Ezra. “Same answer.”

Jack, you’re an Elemental. Can you explain what that means for all the silly people who have not read King Hall yet, therefore don’t know?
His hand lifts, and his fingers frost ice blue. “It means I kill Coms with water.”

Ezra, you’re a Vampire. I’m pretty sure we all know what that is. So say something random so I can keep things even between you and Jack.
Ezra’s black brows lift. “I have a heartbeat. I’m not your average fictional Vampire.” A slow roll of his finger. “My partner last night will attest to just how unaverage I am.”
Jack snorts. “What was her name?”
“Shut up.”
“Just wondering how you would find her to attest to this fact.”
“Oh…she’ll find me. I’m sure.”
“Ah, another one who doesn’t understand the rules.”
“Yep.”

How old were you both when you found out you would be Prodigies? How did you react?
Jack rolls his eyes. “The spell found us. We weren’t just picked. The Prodigies are the most powerful of our age group for each of our factions.” Blue eyebrows furrowed. “I was around two-years-old.”
Ezra flicks a finger, his expression bored. “Same here. I was too young to remember it.”
Jack nods in agreement.

What is it like to BE a Prodigy?
A cool smile lifts Jack’s lips. “An honor, of course.”
Ezra tilted his head once. That was it.

If you had to choose between wrestling a lion or an alligator, which would you choose and why?
Jack blinks gradually. “I’d leave that up to Lily. She’d go all Shifter badass on them.”
“Same here.” Casual shoulder shrug. “Though Lily’s not a fan big of reptiles.”
Snort. “Clearly.”

Lily and Pearl. No way I can go through this whole interview without asking about them. They’re so freaking cool. Ezra, describe Pearl in five words or less, and Jack do the same for Lily. Pretty plleeeeeaaasseee.
Ezra scratches his chin, staring at nothing. “Pearl’s more than she appears.”
Jack nods absently. “Lily’s like my element.”
A black brow lifts. “Your element?”
“Yes.” Jack raises his hand, and the purest drop of water appears above it. “Just like it.”
Quiet grunt. “Yeah…I can see that now.”

Now, switch. Jack, describe Pearl, and Ezra, describe Lily.
Jack stretches his legs out, resituating himself. “Pearl is scary as shit.”
Ezra flicks an absent finger, staring at the clock. “Lily’s a weapon.”

If you each had to pick a favorite thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
Jack's blink is slow. “I’m exceptional at sex. Obvious reason why.”
“Same thing, but I’m excellent at killing too.”
“Wait, I’ll take his answer.”
“You can’t do that.”
Jack snorts. “I just did.”

What’s your favorite thing about being a Prodigy?
Jack lifts a blue brow. “Next…”
Ezra just stares.

Hi, Ezra.
Gradual head tilt. “Hello…” One brow casually raises and his nostrils flare as he inhales deeply…his lips curve. “I don’t do Coms. You’re out of luck.”

If I were to give you each a pet tiger, what would you name them and why would you name him that?
Ezra’s lips instantly thin. “Lion. Not tiger.” Spring green eyes narrow. “What do you know about King Cave?”
Jack stares.

Ezra, I like your face.
Ezra watches a moment longer, then grumbles, “You’re still out of luck.”

This IS a Halloween event on the blog, so can each of you recommend a horror movie for us, and then explain your choices?
Jack glances at the clock. “Halloween. It’s epic.”
Single grunt. “We make our own horrors. Movies aren’t needed.”

Ezra, I kind of heart you. A lot.
"It’s. Not. Going. To. Happen.”

What would you say are your favorite paranormal creatures? And why?
“Water Elemental. Obvious.”
“Vampire.” His expression says it all.

Ohhhhhhhh nooooooooooo. We’re pretty much at the end of this interview. Me no likey. Before we say our goodbyes, though, is there anything you can tell us about King Cave? Or the rest of the series, for that matter? Goodness knows I CANNOT WAIT for more of these books. It’s a freaking addiction and I love it.
Jack sighs heavily, appearing irritated. “King Cave isn’t a myth, it’s a-”
Ezra slaps a hand over Jack’s mouth. “She’s a Com…”
Muffled. “Make her forget.”
A flash of spring green…then nothing. Happiness. Honesty. “Done.”

You know, we’re all totally friends now. Super good friends. I declare it so.
Jack chuckles hard. “Ezra, that may have been a little too much.”
Ezra shrugs a shoulder.

All right, and that’s it for this interview, sadly. Thank you guys for taking the time to answer my questions! We must do this again sometime. Maybe for the release of King Cave? I like you.
Jack still grins. “We like you too.” An absent point of his finger. “Ma’am, your top's over there.”
Ezra’s lips twitch.

King Hall by Scarlett Dawn
ebook, 280 pages
Published August 1st 2013
A fresh, meaty, sink-your-teeth-in-and-hold-on-tight new adult fantasy series kicks off with King Hall…

King Hall — where the Mysticals go to learn their craft, get their degrees, and transition into adulthood. And where four new Rulers will rise and meet their destinies.

Lily Ruckler is adept at one thing:  survival.  Born a Mystical hybrid, her mere existence is forbidden, but her nightmare is only about to start. Fluke, happenstance, and a deep personal loss finds Lily deeply entrenched with those who would destroy her simply for existing — The Mystical Kings.  Being named future Queen of the Shifters shoves Lily into the spotlight, making her one of the most visible Mysticals in the world. But with risk comes a certain solace — her burgeoning friendships with the other three Prodigies: a wicked Vampire, a wild-child Mage, and a playboy Elemental. Backed by their faith and trust, Lily begins to relax into her new life.

Then chaos erupts as the fragile peace between Commoners and Mysticals is broken, and suddenly Lily realises the greatest threat was never from within, and her fear takes on a new name: the revolution.
