A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint...

He can protect her from everyone except himself.

Alana Gore is in danger. A take-no-prisoners publicist, her way with people has made her more than a few enemies over the years, but a creepy stalker is an entirely different matter. She needs a bodyguard, and the only man she can ask is not only ridiculously hot, but reputed to have taste for women that goes beyond adventurous.

Chandler Gamble has one rule: don't protect anyone you want to screw. But with Alana, he's caught between his job and his increasingly hard libido. On one hand, Alana needs his help. On the other, Chandler wants nothing more than to take the hot volcano of a woman in hand. To make her writhe in pleasure, until she's at his complete mercy.

She needs protection. He needs satisfaction. And the moment the line is crossed, all hell will break loose...
(Goodreads)

"I don't know about that." And just like that, Chandler's demeanor shifted. Everything about him changed. His body relaxed in a way that said he was ready to snap to action but was solely focused on her. The lines of his face softened, and his eyes took on a hooded, lazy quality. "You might try to shank me again."
There was something about Little Miss Alana Gore that got to him, crawled under his skin, and had him acting worse than Chase and Chad combined. He didn't know what it was or what it would mean, but he would find out.

Because unlike his brothers, when he wanted something, he didn't fuck around and neither did he spend time bullshitting himself. When Chandler wanted something, he went right for it.

And he wanted Alana.

The first Gamble Brothers book was released before I really got into JLA books, so I'm just now getting around to reading these ones. I've read a few of Jen's J. Lynn books, but only the New Adult ones. I have them all, but I still need to get around to reading her adult books. That said, Tempting the Bodyguard is the first adult book I've read by her (yes, I'm reading this series out of order--I actually plan on reading it backwards), and I am so glad to say that Jen's magic definitely flows through her adult works just as it does her YA and NA stories. As if there was any real doubt. (There wasn't.)

Tempting the Bodyguard is told in third person POV, alternating between Chandler and Alana. I loved this, because I always enjoy getting to see inside more than one character's head. It gives me a better grasp of the character and their reasons for things. I understand the characters better that way. Chandler and Alana were great main characters. Alana was quite stubborn, and not in a way that I was super happy about, but she did come around so that I ended up liking her in the end. And Chandler was such a fantastic hero. He was stubborn, too, but his was in a way that I loved. He accepted what was going on with his feelings and such much quicker, and set forward to the goal of making something out of it, while Alana was still in denial. Because Chandler's freaking awesome like that.

The romance was...hot. I'm not even going to try to twist around it. The romance was hot as eff, and I loved it. Chandler was great not only in his stubborn feelings, but in his caring demeanor in all aspects of his and Alana's romance. He made me feel all happy and tingly, the things he thought and said and did. That guy earned a little piece of my heart, you know? And Alana...well, she went along with the romance for the most part, so thank goodness for that. I was worried her stubbornness may get in the way of heart-like things with Chandler, but she was good for the most part. And her little issue that she DID have regarding relationships and commitment and whatever, she worked through in a timely manner, so it was okay. She didn't take up 50 pages of wallowing to realize she and Chandler were perfect for each other. So yay for Alana! And double yay for Chandler!

Jen's writing was superb, as always, and I was completely engrossed in this story the whole way through. Honestly, I even read a good chunk of this book in school, which is somewhat scandalous considering this is an e-book, so I had to read it on my phone. But it's no surprise that a JLA book is addicting. I mean, come on. I can't remember the last book by Jen I read that I DIDN'T fall all over myself to read the crap out of. I have to say, though, the tiny amount of mystery there was in this book was predictable. That's really my only problem with this book, and it probably shouldn't even be a problem since this book was more romance than mystery, but I totally guessed who Alana's stalker would be. Like, way at the beginning of the book. So that was kind of disappointing. But the romance and sweetness between Chandler and Alana still kept me loving the book, anyway.

Overall, I adored Tempting the Bodyguard. The romance was perfection, and Chandler and Alana's chemistry absolutely won me over. J. Lynn has another addicting read with this one, and I'm definitely itching to get around to the other two Gamble Brother novels ASAP!
