This beautifully crafted picture book is inspired by the true story of OR-7, the gray wolf that captured America’s heart when he journeyed from Oregon to California and became the first wild wolf in the region since 1924. Using facts recorded by fish and wildlife scientists, author Emma Bland Smith imagines the wolf’s experiences in close detail as he makes an epic 2,000-mile journey over three years time.

Journey’s migration captured worldwide attention, and has even inspired a documentary and expeditions covering his famous trek. This story is well known and serves as an excellent introduction to animal conservation and wolf characteristics for young readers.
