Scarlet’s true identity has been revealed, but her future is uncertain. Her forced marriage to Lord Gisbourne threatens Robin and Scarlet’s love, and as the royal court descends upon Nottingham for the appointment of a new Sheriff, the people of Nottingham hope that Prince John will appoint their beloved Robin Hood. But Prince John has different plans for Nottingham that revolve around a fateful secret from Scarlet’s past even she isn’t yet aware of. Forced to participate at court alongside her ruthless husband, Scarlet must bide her time and act the part of a noblewoman—a worthy sacrifice if it means helping Robin’s cause and a chance at a future with the man she loves. With a fresh line of intrigue and as much passion as ever, the next chapter in Scarlet’s tale will have readers talking once again.

    About My Life in May
Cavs won the Eastern finals! All in CLE, baby! Cavaliers swept the series against the Hawks 4-0 and we are off to the NBA Championship!

Had a bit of an off month, reading wise. I don't know what it is, but there was like two weeks straight where I just didn't read anything. I guess I gave my mind a break and just focused on those things I neglected during my hot streak.

All my regular season shows had season finales. Don't get me wrong, I love my TV shows, but something about them ending and the following abundance of free time just makes me smile. Of course, now I have the summer series, but there's not nearly as many.

Things I'm Looking Forward to in June
Cavs winning the NBA Championship. Oh it's going to be an intense couple of weeks, my friends. Get ready for a barrage of tweets if you follow me on Twitter  :)

Hopefully regular spring / summer weather and none of this 80 one day and 50 the next nonsense. Get your shit together, Ohio!

Lucas and Juliet couldn’t be more different from each other. But from the moment Lucas sees Juliet, he swears he remembers their first kiss. Their first dance. Their first fight. He even knows what’s going to happen between them—not because he can predict the future, but because he claims to have already lived it.

Juliet doesn’t know whether to be afraid for herself or for Lucas. As Lucas’s memories occur more frequently, they also grow more ominous. All Juliet wants is to keep Lucas safe with her. But how do you hold on to someone you love in the present when they’ve begun slipping away from you in the future?

    About My Life in May
I got put on midnights...  This messed up my entire system.  Reading was slowed and reviews were impossible.  I'm finally just starting to pull out of this back into a workable schedule.

I went to my first ball game and drive-in of the season!  I know this doesn't sound all that exciting but these are the two things I love in the summer. Well, I mean beyond the sun and warmth.

Things I'm Looking Forward to in June
Starting plan out Mermaid and Myth month!!!  I know it isn't until August but there is so much to do!!  It's my favourite month filled with reviews, interviews, guest posts, giveaways and MORE!!

Summer trips and visits.  The season for seeing everyone has started.  I'm looking forward to just being out and about :)

To be Posted June 9 on Stuck In Books
A fun, romantic read, perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen and Susane Colasanti!

Before Matt, Ella had a plan. Get over a no-good ex-boyfriend. Graduate from high school without any more distractions. Move away from Orlando, Florida, where she’s lived her entire life.

But Matt—the cute, shy, bespectacled bass player who just moved to town—was never part of that plan.

And neither was attending a party that was crashed by the cops just minutes after they arrived. Or spending an entire night saying “yes” to every crazy, fun thing they could think of.

Then Matt abruptly left town, and he broke not only Ella’s heart but those of their best friends, too. So when he shows up a year later with a plan of his own—to relive the night that brought them together—Ella isn’t sure whether Matt’s worth a second chance. Or if re-creating the past can help them create a different future.

In alternating then and now chapters, debut author Lauren Gibaldi crafts a charming, romantic story of first loves, lifelong friendships, uncovered secrets, and, ultimately, finding out how to be brave.

    About My Life in May
I finished my first year of college! It's so weird. A year ago at this time I was just gearing up to graduate high school, no idea how college would go or anything. And now I have two whole semesters under my belt. And I have some free time in between semesters now to chill out and BREATHE. (And plan for next semester, but let's not think about that right this second.)

RT! Last month, when I put this down as something to happen in May, I did NOT think I'd actually do it. I wanted to more than anything, but it just was not working out. The only reason it was in the post was because I was too sad to admit defeat yet. AND THEN THINGS ACTUALLY DID WORK OUT AND I DID GO TO RT AND I HAD THE VERY BEST TIME. I got to see my dear friend Val (@StuckInBooks), and I got to see Mary (@knoxdiver) who is so lovely, and I got to meet Katie (@PolishedPage) who is one of the coolest people. I got to see Jennifer L. Armentrout and Victoria Scott. I got to meet Tiffany King. And there were SO MANY more people I got to see and hang out with, but listing them all would take a very long time. (Though, seriously, shout out to Gretchen McNeil for giving me her map during the Giant Book Fair because I was so lost.) It was a super fun experience, and I'm so glad things panned out! Now I'm just sitting here with all the books and wondering when I get to see my bookish friends again. Heh.

The Voice finale! I was so into this season. Only the second time that's happened to me, but this season... Sawyer Fredericks, y'all. I was all in for that kid. I may or may not have cried a happy tear or two when he won. (HIS PARENTS WERE THERE AND HE WAS HUGGING THEM AND SINGING AND IT WAS SUCH A HAPPY MOMENT, OKAY)

Also, the finale to the first season of The Lizzie Borden Chronicles. You know, in the beginning I was kind of bored with this series. I gave it a shot, though, because I enjoy this type of show, especially since it has that catchy little song ("Lizzie Borden took an axe...."). I'm a sucker for catchy little songs. (I'm not going to quote the one for Freddy Kruger, but know that I want to.) But anyway--Lizzie Borden. I wasn't entirely taken in the beginning of the season, but by the time the end came I was really into it. Even though literally every one of my favorite characters keeps dying. Le sigh. But for real, I so hope it gets picked up for another season!

Things I'm Looking Forward to in June
Bookish Lifestyle! I lovelovelove the evolution happening here, and I'm so excited to be a part of it! Also, the new design.... I just want to keep staring at it. All day every day.

Reading ALL OF THE BOOKS. My TBR for June is looking gorgeous. Both with books I already have and books that are releasing. Trusting Liam by Molly McAdams is coming out! (My Molly McAdams addiction can finally be appeased!) Scorched by JLA! My favorite book of this month releases on the 16th, too! (For real, it's so great and you should read it because the characters are adorable and awkward and the story is fun and it's about a night of saying yes... I. Love. It. Cutest couple award goes to the main characters of that book. THEY GET AN AWARD.)

Netflix with Brother 3. This isn't completely new to June, but it's going happen MORE now, since school's ending for him in a few days. (He's finishing up his junior year of high school. My little brother that's actually bigger than me. Sigh.) He and I watch Netflix every Saturday night (unless I'm away at something like, ahem, RT), and also Sundays if he has the Monday after off. We watch horror movies mostly, since I'm super into them and my brother likes trying to find good ones. But we also watch some shows, too--Total Drama (because nostalgia) and Family Guy, and probably more now that we'll have time. So that'll be nice.

    Where to get:

The rules: no kissing on the mouth, no staying the night, no telling anyone, and above all... No falling in love

Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. Easy right?

Too bad he's committed to making her break every rule...

Football has been good to Drew. It's given him recognition, two National Championships, and the Heisman. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else. But there's one problem: she's shut him down. Completely.

That is until a chance encounter leads to the hottest sex of their lives, along with the possibility of something great. Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. Now it's up to Drew to tempt her with more: more sex, more satisfaction, more time with him. Until she's truly hooked. It's a good thing Drew knows all about winning.

    (Goodreads)

"I think you're beautiful," he says softly.
    "Beauty fades," I choke out.
"Not when it comes from the inside."
"What people see? That's only gloss. But, Anna, you light me up. Drew. Not the player. You didn't know how to live under my light? I don't have light anymore unless you're there."
Making Anna happy makes me happy.
"To be clear," I tell her, "being with you is the highlight of my day."
Thick lashes cast shadows at the tops of his cheeks. "Your voice isn't noise. It's a song I want to hear over and over."

I've heard people talking about this book for a while now. The Hook Up and The Deal (by Elle Kennedy, which I have and will probably review in June!) have been recommended to me many times. Just the other day I was in serious need of a swoony read, so I asked Twitter for suggestions. When someone mentioned The Hook Up, I thought it would be perfect. And I'd already had it on my kindle---you know, since people had been talking about it for a while. Of course I had 1-clicked it at some point.

So I started it. And I read it. And I must say, I'm kind of disappointed.

I liked the book. It was good---VERY good at some points. But overall, it didn't really wow me. In regards to being swoon-worthy, in that people were mostly right. There was more swoon in some parts than others, but throughout the book as a whole there was definitely heaps of it all over the place.

I think one of my biggest issues with this book was...well, Anna. I'm not going to say I disliked her, but I wasn't really a fan of her, either. Not my least favorite heroine and not my most favorite. She starts out so mean and closed off in the beginning of this book, so that the story was really carried by Drew. Anna gets better as the story progresses, but her original stand-off-ishness resonated for a while.

Another problem I had with this book was that there wasn't much actual plot. It was a lot of Drew and Anna spending time together, bickering, smexy times, and then a few conversations with friends, but there wasn't anything actually HAPPENING. Nothing to move the story along or to really keep me motivated in reading. Sure, it could be assumed I'd want to stay for the romance and the couple, but...

I didn't end up really, truly loving and believing in the couple until about halfway through. I had fond feelings for them before that. I wanted them to work out before that, too. But I wasn't REALLY INTO IT until around the halfway point. And since there wasn't much of anything else going on, that meant I didn't get super invested in the book until that point.

Also, it bothered me that one of their huge relationship flaws was rooted in communication. Drew and Anna are big about being blunt with each other. That honesty was great---until it got to the most important, fundamental things that were holding their relationship together. Anna wouldn't open up, and Drew was holding back. I just wanted them to TALK TO EACH OTHER and get together, but that took so long to happen.

Okay, now that I've gone through all the things I wasn't too fond of about this novel, now I can gush about the aspects I DID enjoy...

This is the first book I've read by Kristen Callihan, though I've heard the most complimentary things about all of her novels. Still, I wasn't sure what her storytelling was like. Turns out, I'm actually a fan of her writing. The Hook Up is in dual POV, and Callihan definitely gave both characters their own distinct voices. I admit to enjoying Drew's more than Anna's, but that doesn't take away from the fact that they were both written very well. Even if I hadn't enjoyed The Hook Up, I'd be open to reading another book by Callihan anyway.

But I DID enjoy The Hook Up. There was lots to swoon over. So much sweetness. While there wasn't much driving the story forward, it was not anything near a chore to read Drew and Anna together. And it only got better the farther into the story I got, seeing as they grew closer and their relationship became more of a true RELATIONSHIP. They just got better and better, and I ended up loving them as a couple.

While I wasn't much of an Anna fan in general, I was a Drew fan from the very start. His first meeting with Anna wasn't the best, but reading it from his POV made it make more sense---and endeared me to him in the process. He and Anna had such different views on relationships and how they could work. I loved how Drew knew what he wanted and went for it. Later in the story, he has some rough patches, and those really felt like a slap in the face, but when everything was said and done, Drew was a great guy. Definite book boyfriend material.

The banter between Drew and Anna was so witty. It made the entire book so much more enjoyable, and helped to make their relationship more likable before they themselves grew closer and made me start really rooting for them. This couple was so evenly matched in their humor and their lighthearted arguments, it was outright cute to read. And funny. Definitely funny.

Overall, while The Hook Up wasn't as great as I'd expected it to be, it was still a novel I ended up liking. A nice heaping of sweetness mixed with the perfect dose of banter makes this story one romance readers should check out. This book was good, and I think the rest of the series has serious potential to get even better. I'm so looking forward to the second book myself, The Friend Zone, which focuses on Drew's best friend Gray. No doubt in my mind, I'll be picking it up sometime soon!

Beauty Review: Pixi by Petra Ultimate Beauty Kit Second Edition + Swatches

I've been hearing and reading so much about the Pixi brand, it was only a matter of time until I'd go on a makeup buying spree. And whatdya know, I did.
And yes, I did some damage, but it was SO WORTH IT!

I bought three products (now would be the time to applaud my ability to restrict myself): The Ultimate Beauty Kit Second Edition (managed to snatch the last in stock for only $17!! It was originally $34!), the famous Glow Mist and the Tinted Brilliance Balm in Magnific Mauve

For the record, I have no regrets.

    Just look at this baby.
Everything - from the carefully designed (and convenient, 3-fold) packaging to the contents of this beauty kit is simply stunning.

There are 30 cool and warm eyeshadows (some more shimmery than others, but all beautiful), 6 heavenly highlighters and 6 cheek blushes

The eyeshadows are definitely on the more natural looking, almost nude side (aside from a couple blue and purple colors). Some are more pigmented than others, but here's the awesome thing: you can build them up to achieve the desired look. They don't crumb, they don't crease, they are very blendable and just all around amazing to use. This, in my opinion, is just the perfect palette for spring and summer. You can pull of a very breezy spring look with some of the lighter shades, or go all out on the bolder colors. There are quite many combinations here and I am just so excited to explore them all.

I also love to the fact that these eyeshadows, blushes and highlighters are all infused with vitamin E. They definitely go on a bit smoother than most of my other eyeshadows, and they give you this really fresh, energized and luminous look. You will look (and feel!) like a freaking fairy.

Oh, and they stay in place. I did use the Glow Mist on top, so it might be due to that, but my makeup did not budge a millimeter all throughout the day.

Here are three very different looks I achieved with this palette:

BEA Armchair: Book to Movie Adaptions

    Armchair BEA

Poor, Andrea. Never gets to go to BEA. Stupid logistics, timing, and money. Oh well. I'll live vicariously through the tweets and Instagram pictures of those who went.  :)  So since I couldn't go to BEA, I'm going to join in on the fun of BEA Armchair.

    Book to Move Adaptions

What books do you want to be made into a movie or television show? What are some of your favorites? We'll explore more about this topic, especially what works and what doesn't. Are there any upcoming shows or movies that you're excited for? What are your recommendations?

Jessi at Novel Heartbeat had an amazing post the other day - Upcoming & Optioned YA Book to Movie Adaptations - at let me tell you . . . that list had me salivating! Clockwork Angel, Embrace, Shadow and Bone just to name a few! I know these movies are only optioned by oh my!

Other books I'd love to see as a TV / movie are Cinder, Something Strange and Deadly, and Throne of Glass. Can you just imagine these babies on the big screen?! Or small, I'd be content either way  :)

Maybe growing up means disappointing the people we love.
Life is hard, honey. Everyone finds a way.
“It's a hard concept to hold on to--the idea that there was a time before us. A time before time.
In the beginning there was nothing. And then there was everything.”
In my head I know I've been in love before, but it doesn't feel like it. Being in love with you is better than the first time. It feels like the first time and the last time and the only time all at once.
“We are lips and arms and legs and bodies entangled. He raises himself above me and we are wordless, and then we are joined and moving silently. We are joined and I know all of the secrets of the universe.”

Oh my lord, this book! THIS FREAKING BOOK!

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon is, to put simply, amazing. It's gorgeously written in a feather-light, delicate prose that is pretty simple in construction and straightforward, but ethereal and magical at the same time. Filled to the brim and overflowing with meaning, vividly painted emotions, memorable quotes and breathtakingly captured moments of sadness and joy, heartbreak and love, pain and glory; this is an absolute and indisputable must-read for fans of Jennifer Niven and John Green, or simply for anyone who enjoys a beautifully-written, meaningful and resonating contemporary fiction. I absolutely adored it.

When Madeline was born, she was diagnosed with a rare immunological disease that prevents her from ever leaving the sterile safety of her home. She has various allergies and her body can't be exposed to germs or viruses from the outside world, because it's not equipped to fight them. Her home is her entire universe (well, aside from internet activities and online friends), and her mom and caretaker are the only two planets in her orbit. Until Olly arrives, and Madeline's universe explodes with the blinding power of supernova.

Everything, Everything is so achingly beautiful and gorgeously constructed, it is really hard for me to comprehend that this is Nicola Yoon's debut novel. Effortlessly narrated, filled with perfectly crafted scenes and moments accompanied by little visuals (like diary notes, emails, drawings, etc), it is quite a powerful reading experience. The book is completely unputdownable. You'll be glued to its pages just like I was, craving more with every small sip you take, needing to know everything, to race ahead and find out what happens next, but not wanting to miss a single word, a single breath, a single little Madeline and Olly moment. I really tried to pace myself while reading this book, because I really wanted to savour each and every page, but it wasn't easy. I just wanted to inhale it all and fill my soul with it, and just keep it there, in my heart, forever.

Nicola Yoon is one incredibly talented writer, and I am so glad to have discovered her. I already know I will read every single book she'll ever write, she goes straight onto my automatic to-read list. The way she developed her characters and gave them so much depth and complexity, really took my breath away. Her prose is nothing short of perfect, her dialogues are spot-on and full of amazing chemistry, her every sentence carries meaning and stays with you. I loved how she described all the relationships in this book - and not just the one between Olly and Madeline, but also between Madeline and her mom, Madeline and her nurse, Olly and his parents and sister... they were all so authentic and convincing, they pulled on my heartstrings and made me feel things. I particularly loved how mature Madeline acted, despite her truly horrible situation. I loved that the relationship with her mom was so drama-free; based on mutual trust, understanding and affection. And boy, watching this girl fall in love with Olly and seeing them together, it just melted me. It was phenomenal.

I don't think I can praise this book enough, but ultimately you need to experience this awesomeness for yourself. I promise you, you won't regret.
