Where to get:

When 16 year old Xander's older brother Moto left him at Vandenberg Airforce Base he only had one request - don't leave no matter what. But there was no way he could have known that one day zombies would gather into groups big enough to knock down walls and take out entire buildings full of people. That was before the rise of the horde!

Now Xander is on the run, fleeing south to Port Hueneme to locate his brother with nothing but his martial arts training and the katana blade left to him. Along the way he'll have to fight for his life against other survivors, neo-Nazi's, outlaw bikers, gang bangers, cannibals, cult members, and a seemingly endless sea of flesh hungry zombies.

But Xander is far from alone. Traveling with him are Benji, a 12 year old comic book geek, and Felicity Jane, a childhood celebrity with wild mood swings. Will they make it together in one piece to the safe zone or will they become the next meal for a hungry horde of wild zombies?

Zombie Attack! Rise of the Horde is filled with pulse pounding undead action from the very first chapter up until the bitter sweet end. From rock stars and celebrities to false prophets and miracle workers, this book has it all! The story takes off like a bullet and doesn't slow down until the last sentence. You won't be able to put it down!

If I can survive this day, just this one day... my crazy thoughts raced as the monstrous hordes closed in on me... then I can survive anything this world throws at me.
Why is she being so casual? It's not like those are fire ants coming to spoil a picnic, I thought. These are undead demons from the depths of hell, devoid of all mercy, coming to rip us to shreds in a horrible, violent death.

Zombie Attack: Rise of the Horde is a very entertaining, fast-paced and violent thrill ride through a zombie infested world similar to the bleak reality of The Walking Dead series. A Katana-yielding hero, comic-obsessed side-kick, and a gorgeous movie star chick with a tiny prescription drug problem are thrown together and forced to fight their way through the zombie apocalypse. While not exactly profoundly moving or emotionally engaging, Zombie Attack offers lots of badass and gore fun. All fans of classic zombie lore are sure to appreciate this one!

No one knows where the zombie virus came from. Some people think it originated in China and a sick traveller brought it over to the US, but no one can tell for sure. And it's not like it matters anyway now, that the world is just one step away from completely falling apart. All that counts is knowing how to stay alive and not get infected. Thankfully, Devan Sagliani's zombies are pretty close to the classic zombies we all know from books and movies, in that they're not very fast moving or intelligent. They don't see well in the dark and rely mostly on their sense of smell. Noise and movement draws them in, so staying calm and quiet can very well save your skin (or brains). Being cornered by a zombie horde is still extremely dangerous of course (OK, let's face it, you don't really stand a chance at all), but if you're bright and well trained, chances are you'll survive.

Lucky for Xander, he has been well trained in martial arts by his older brother, Moto. He's agile, strong and can fight with a sword like a real Katana master. All the survival skills he learned from his half-Japanese brother will come in handy when the military base he's staying at is overrun by a zombie horde. He'll now have to somehow make his way to Port Hueneme to find his brother, and he won't be going there alone.

This was such a super fun and highly entertaining story, I could not put it down! Things are happening so quickly, you barely have time to catch your breath, let alone take a break! This book has everything, from flesh-devouring zombies, religious fanatics ready to sacrifice innocent people to appease their gods, cannibals and Neo-nazis to ruthless biker gangs and ex movie stars. The plot line is full of surprises and unexpected twists. Honestly, it's a rollercoaster of craziness and excitement. I'd lie if I said I didn't enjoy all the disturbingly gore moments. Sagliani does a fantastic job describing scenes and characters. Everything is vivid and terrifying.

I found Zombie Attack to be quite similar to The Walking Dead series. Certain characters and plot developments felt very familiar for sure, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The similarities didn't bother me at all, in fact, I really liked that this book reminded me so much of my favorite TV show. The atmosphere was equally unsettling, the action - heart-pounding. And all the unique twists and stunning developments only made it that much more fun to read.

All in all, I can't wait to read the next book! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys badass characters and bold story lines, you won't be disappointed!
