I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to share with you today the new cover of the upcoming MG Fantasy/Paranormal novel, Small Medium At Large by Joanne Levy!!!

Ready???

Here it is:

About the book:

Hardcover, 208 pages

Expected publication:
July 3rd 2012 by Bloomsbury

Synopsis:
After she’s hit by lightning at a wedding, twelve-year-old Lilah Bloom develops a new talent: she can hear dead people. Among them, there’s her overopinionated Bubby Dora; a prissy fashion designer; and an approval-seeking clown who livens up a séance. With Bubby Dora leading the way, these and other sweetly imperfect ghosts haunt Lilah through seventh grade, and help her face her one big fear: talking to—and possibly going to the seventh-grade dance with—her crush, Andrew Finkel.

I definitely prefer this cover to the previous one--I also think it looks less like a "fantasy" cover and will likely attract more crossover contemporary readers.

LOVE the colors and brightness of the new cover! I think it'll attract younger readers for sure.

I really prefer the old cover! I think this trend of using real photos on covers will 'date' the books more quickly - we'll see in the future if I'm right!

I loved the old cover, but I love the new cover even more ... brighter, more contemporary and appealing to middle grade readers!

I LOVE the new cover!!! Congrats Joanne!

I preferred the old cover, but I think the new one will be much more appealing to the target audience. :-)

I like both covers, but the new one probably appeals to a wider age range as the other looked strictly MG.

I love the new cover. The cover is what drew me to read the synopsis and your post. This sounds like an amazingly cute book. Definitely adding it to GoodReads!

I love both covers! This one will have a wider appeal to young non-fantasy readers -- the girl's smiling face is very appealing. Good job to the cover team!

Thanks for all the cover love, everyone! And a HUGE thanks to Evie for being such a gracious host!

I don't really like the cover to be honest. :( sorrry. But thanks for the giveaway! :)

I really love the new cover. I think it's cute and fun!! I don't think that MG books always have to have cartoon covers. I do love the old cover, but I think the new one is very appealing. I think it makes an older audience more likely to pick it up than the original cover.

I thought that the old cover was cute but I must say that the new cover does appeal to me more.

The old cover is cute in the cartoon version. But I love the actual girl on the cover. Both are great, but do love the second one more. this book looks great and would love to win and read.
Thanks for the giveaway

I love it! *-* It's bright, fun, and adorable. I also was a huge fan of the old cover art, but I agree that both are fantastic, and I think this may be more likely to catch people's eyes.

I love the new cover! It's so CUTE! And it would definitely catch my eye while browsing a shelf versus the old cover! :))

Both covers are great, but the new one just "POPS" out at you! I really like it--I hate to judge a book by it's cover, but what else do you do when it grabs your attention?!!

Do I have to pick a favorite? Ok, I ADORE the new cover!! Even though I liked the old cover (and will take good care of the ARC I have with it), I think the new cover will attract the eye of my jr. high students.

CONGRATS Joanne!

I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the love! Thanks everyone!

i liked the other cover but this one is so absolutely
cute : )

I love the new cover!

I like the cover. Because its not as cartoonish it will reach more audiences, but I have to admit I liked the original as well

PuttPutt1198Eve said...

I prefer the more "drawn" version of the first cover. The second is nice but I get tired of the covers that look like photographs. That's all you see now. They arew beautiful but they start looking the same to me after awhile.

Orchid said...

While I absolutely loved the first cover for Small Medium at Large, I think that the new one suits the book a lot more.

Definitely excited about adding the upcoming release because this book rocked. =)

Thanks so much for the great giveaway and sharing the new cover with everyone.

LOVE the new cover (the old cover was cute too!) I think this would be a great book to read with my 9 year old:) Thanks for the giveaway:)

I think the new cover is more current and will attract multiple genre readers, as well as some older readers too. It really opens up the audience.

Small Review said...

Personally, I loved the old cover and I kinda miss the girl's smirk. I'm partial to illustrated covers though. I do think the new cover looks more eye-catching and will probably appeal to the target audience more.

Simona Husaru said...

I think this book is quite interesting! The cover seems ok, could have been better but i like the synopsis. Hope i can read it ;D

KateB said...

Cover this book is amazing :)

Lucia (iLive, iLaugh, iLove Books) said...

It's really bright and I love how happy the girl looks, although I'm not sure it fits with the synopsis. However, if the book happens to be one of those upbeat books with just a touch of fantasy, then it fits. :)

Kissed by Ink said...

The new cover looks older and more mature. I think the girls out there will love how happy the cover girl looks and be able to relate more to her.

Passionate Bookworm said...

I love them both! But I can see the new one working for a little bit older readers, and the older for the younger ones. each have good and bad! I love it when covers get revamped right!

Mindi Rench said...

I agree with many of the other commenters... the new cover is cute! I like the bright colors and the way the image takes up the whole space.

c.c said...

I really like the new cover. She sort of reminds me of Malese from TVD. Anyways very beautiful though the old cover was cool too.

Lisa Marie @ The Young Adult Connection said...

I like them both, but I sort of liked the old cover better.

Aspen Firefly said...

I really love the new cover! I think the bright colors make it stand out more and will draw more attention than the other cover with its more muted coloring.

Tiffany Mahaffy said...

I like the old cover but the new one I LOVE!! It would catch my eye faster :) I love Bright things lol Thank you so much for doing this!!

Gorelenore said...

I love the new cover, it seems to appeal to an older audience I think

Amy S. said...

I work as a high school librarian and I definitely think that the new cover would get picked up more by students. The cartoon-like drawing of the old cover looks too old fashioned I think. Thanks for the chance to win!
