Teaser Tueasday #3

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading and it asks us to...
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

So, this week I'm reading two books (which is very uncommon situation for me, I prefer to focus on one book at a time, but well..). One of the books is Integrated Intuition: A comprehensive Guide to Psychic Development by Rhiannon Paille

Here's my teaser (ok, this is more like an excerpt, because picking two sentences just won't do)

"Every morning I drive my husband to work across town. Half the time I‘m too busy wrestling to get the kids ready and out the door that I‘m barely paying attention to double clicking the lock key and holding down the automatic start button. I barely pay attention to the fact that I quickly shift my thumb to the unlock button and click it twice as I‘m carrying my youngest daughter to the car. Furthermore, I don‘t notice the battery engaging, the starter working to crank the engine, the engine attempting to fire on its own, or the fuel pumping through the carburetor. When I start my SUV every morning I don‘t notice all the intricate things that are happening to make that SUV go. All I concentrate on is the fact that it‘s working.
The same philosophy can be applied to Psychic Ability. There‘s a lot more going on than simply engaging the third eye, connecting to the client and allowing the energy to flow. While essentially that works too, eventually that method becomes stale."

Doesn't it sound fascinating? When I got this book from Rhiannon herself, I was little bit concerted that it will be hard for me to get into it. I'm not much of a non-fiction reader. But then something wonderful happened... I started reading it and Rhiannon's amazing writing style got me absolutely hooked!
It is not a small and quick read, the book page count is 374, so obviously it will take a while for a slow e-book reader like me, but I'm really enjoying the time I spend reading it, so it's all fine :)

Please stay tuned for my review of Integrated Intuition, coming up next!

And the second book I'm reading now (and enjoying a lot, too!) is Stacy Juba's Twenty Five Years Ago Today
So, here's my teaser for this one:

"She couldn't trust Eric. No matter how gorgeous or convincing he was, Kris had to be careful. Unveiling the truth depended on it. Her story depended on it. She opened the window to diminish the smell of his aftershave."

I started reading this book yesterday and  I am about 40 % done, it's a very pleasant and fast read. Stacy goes right to the point, no unnecessary blabbing, just a thrilling roller coaster ride :) I will definitely read her other novel, Sink or Swim, too :)

I will be reviewing both books soon, stay tuned for the reviews and author interviews!

That's the problem I have every week! Sometimes you find the PERFECT teaser but it's WAY more than just 2 sentences and you can't leave ANY of it out.I'm glad you ended up enjoying the book!

Here's my teaser(s)!

The second one sounds very intriguing. My teasers are always more than 2 sentences as well. Oh well :P Excellent teasers, and happy reading.

Great teasers both of them. I don't read much non-fiction either and if I do it's mostly about parenting or history :)

I love your header, Evie!

I had that problem this week, too, and wound up with a too-long tease. Sometimes it's necessary. In your case, it was! I really liked the teaser. The fact that she hit it twice made me go, "Oh, no, I hope something bad won't happen." I swear, all these books have conditioned me...

And the second teaser--how mysterious! I almost did two this week, but the one was a galley I couldn't quote from, so...
